Upon leaving the orchestra in November 2005 Matthew was very much sought after by other Big Bands including the 'Nick Ross Orchestra', BBC Award winning 'Fat Chops Big Band', and the Len Phillips Big Band, and has appeared with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
Matthew has also performed with John Wilson and his Grammy-nominated Orchestra.

In March 2006 Matthew was voted 'Best UK Male Big Band Vocalist'.

In January 2001 Matt accepted the position of Principal Male Vocalist with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra and proceeded to tour all the Major theatres throughout the UK and Ireland with the orchestra for the next 5 years. During this period Matthew also performed with the 40 piece 'Romantic Concert Orchestra' and the stunning 50 piece 'World's Biggest Big Band' at the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
In addition to performing at some of the country's most prestigious concert venues (Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Festival Hall in London, Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow) with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, Matthew recorded songs for three of the Orchestra's albums.
In July 2005 Matthew signed to the fledgling jazz label 'Diving Duck Recordings', releasing his solo album in October 2005. The album launched to critical acclaim, gaining airplay on BBC Radio 2, Saga FM, Smooth FM, Primetime, Fosseway Radio, & many local BBC radio stations.
Since then Matthew has appeared with many of the UK's foremost orchestra's including the CBSO, Halle, BBC Concert Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia and Ireland's RTE Concert Orchestra. He has both recorded and broadcast live on National radio for BBC Radio 2 and RTE 1.
In 2007 Matthew was a finalist in the Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards for 'Best UK Male Singer', and performed for HRH Duchess of York and the Malaysian Royal family.
In 2009 Matthew has made debut with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and appearred as special guest vocalist on BBC Radio 2's 'Friday Night is Music Night'.

Returning in May 09 Matt once again performed with the CBSO at Symphony Hall, and in October broadcast on 'Big Band Special' with the BBC Big Band, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the programme.

2010 will see Matt release a further two albums, and appear once again with the RTE Concert Orchestra in Dublin.
Matt will also appear for two nights at the Edinburgh Festival.
